- THE INTERNATIONAL PATTERN & ITS ANOMALIES -
-71-
The following deck comes from the US and on the courts there are drawn heads of different dogs. The way in which they were drawn fits the international pattern very well here: the designs are almost just as "flat" as in the regular pattern. But there is one other particularity in this deck. Four of the courts are smoking! It was amusing to see that the "suicide king" had a cigarette between his lips and how suiting too! But also the King of Diamonds, the Jack of Hearts are smoking one. The Jack of Clubs however prefers a pipe.
The deck was published by Sterling Publishing Co.
Inc. from New York as "Dogs Playing Cards" There are 52 cards, 2 jokers and an extra card. |
