- THE INTERNATIONAL PATTERN & ITS ANOMALIES -

-49-

The design of the next deck is done in 3 colors only. A reference to the international pattern is recognized immediately by the complex and colorful center design. Most of the attributes are used and there's a suicide King of Hearts and a one-eyed Jack of Spades.
But at the same time there's humor in the design, with anachronisms like a microphone, a suit-and-tie, a cocktail or a filter cigarette. And see how the Queen of Diamonds looks at her pealed banana!

The Reno Playing Cards were printed by Nintendo from Kyoto in 1980. The name Reno probably doesn't refer to the US city, but to a Japanese cartoon character.

The deck consists of 52 cards and 2 (similar) jokers.
