- THE INTERNATIONAL PATTERN & ITS ANOMALIES -
-7-
In the deck below the faces have all been replaced by that of dogs. The overall design sticks very close to the international pattern. The suitcolour can be found in each of the center designs and the attributes of the courts are present, although they have sometimes been replaced by a bone. The suicide king (of Hearts) makes a nice attempt with his bone and we get a nice, in profile, "one-eyed" dog on the Jack of Spades. There are 5 basic dog-face designs used to make the 12 courts. Each suit has its own color set for the center design. Unusual is the brown-gray background of the courts.
The "Big Dogs" deck was published by the Big Dogs Co. from Santa Barbara (USA) in 1997. |
