- THE INTERNATIONAL PATTERN & ITS ANOMALIES -

-47-

We'll leave Italy and fly across the world to Japan. This country doesn't have a special traditional pattern for playing cards. The international pattern is well known and used there. And of course that is a good base for making numerous anomalies. We'll show those that are in our collection.

The first one was made by the Angel Playing Cards Co. Ltd. This manufacturer often uses the color blue instead of black for the Spades and Clubs. The outline of the design is hexagonal here and the background is filled with flowers in different tones of red and green. The center design has floral elements too. The attributes have been altered, mainly on the Jacks. There is a suicide King of Hearts, but his Jack seems to want to join him.

The deck is called "Floral" and it was printed and published by the Angel Playing Cards Co. Ltd. in 1982. The deck consists of 52 cards, 2 jokers and a blank extra card.
