Fashionable Decks with a Fragrance

You don't always have to go to a perfume-shop to receive a nice "free" deck that comes with a new, exclusive (and expensive) fragrance. Obviously some retailers don't give them away anymore, but prefer to sell them on the internet, even when the box mentions in French and English that this deck is a "gift - not for sale". We found our deck on Ebay and we don't want to complain: it's less expensive than having to buy the fragrance! 

The fragrance that we missed is called "Eau d'Amour" and is produced by Jean-Paul Gaultier. The free, promotional deck has non-standard courts and special designed numbercards. It was published by Gaultier in 2008.

The design of the 12 courts is actually based on only 4 designs: 1 of a King, 1 of a Jack and 2 of a Queen. With a combination of clever "mirroring" and applying 2 backgrounds and 2 colours the artist has created these 12 courts. Chapeau!

The deck is bilingual: on one side of the courts there are English indices, on the other French ones. The numbercards all show their number in a centered suit sign too, so the English "A" is compensated there by a French "1" in the middle.

The deck consists of 52 cards, 2 jokers and a title card.

The name of the artist is still unknown, just like the name and country of the printer or the number of the edition. We have written an email to the Jean-Paul Gaultier company and should we get any answers to our questions, then we'll share this info with you here.
