AN INDIAN COPY

THE SPADES

This is one of the cards from the original deck that for some reason hasn't made it to the Indian deck. Maybe it was her exotic, oriental look that brought it "too close to home".

It's obvious that the designs of Klaus Villiger were not photocopied, but redrawn by an unknown Indian artist. So facial expressions have slight differences, just like some of the background items. Sometimes the background has lost it's original idea (see 9S), but the original pose is always copied exactly.

When comparing the two artists, Klaus Villiger is clearly the better one, but the Indian copy-cat has done a reasonable job and sometimes his choice of colours even tops the original.
