Today's lockdown deck comes earlier in the day than usual. This colourful luxury patterned deck was printed and published as an hombre deck of 40 cards by Ludwig & Schmidt from Halle am Saale, Germany.
Although I would date the deck, just by its appearance, as 1875-1885, there's that German tax stamp, which was in use between 1919 and 1923, on the AH. It could be left over stock that was put on the market much later, but is that likely after so many years????? And….. by 1920 the use of indices was well established and the appearance of the pattern already a bit outdated.
