Today's deck in the lockdown series was made in France, but it's probably not often seen there. It was printed in chromolithography by B.P. Grimaud from Paris, but was made to be published as "Whist No 674" in Denmark. The deck dates from the early 1890's. Plain aces, Danish taxstamp on the AD. Not seen on the scans: the cards have solid gold edges. Box with text in Danish.
COMMENT:
Pascal Pette: This
"Danish" game was also sold in France under the number 570, with
indices and a joker (53 cards). The wrapper of my collection carries a tax band
(PORTRAIT ETRANGER - JEUX DE CARD ORDINAIRES - TAXES: 7 fr 50) which places it
around 1926.
