SPECIAL ACES
The aces shown here are special aces that were made for non-standard decks (SN01 etc.) that are not shown with the decks in other sections.
The special advertising aces shown below, were made ca. 1931 to accompany a "Kroon" deck for SCHRAM, a shipbuilding company.
The following aces were made to accompany the "Dietsche Kaart" (SN04) for the SMN, showing the harbours that were frequented by the ships of the company.
The s.s. Vondel can be seen on two of the aces. The ship was build in 1907 and was painted completely black in 1914. So this version has to be dated somewhere between 1909 and 1914. The use of the black indicators on the ace of hearts and diamonds would make it an NSF deck and dates it before 1912.
A brown coloured version of these aces was also published by the Stoomvaart Maatschappij Nederland (S.M.N.) and was found in a Fortuna deck (SN09). Designs on Ace of Hearts and Clubs were partially changed and the s.s. Vondel is no longer depicted.
The following aces were made for Hasekamp, a distillery, repeated in the other black and red suits.
