After more than a hundred decks/days it sometimes feels like work and I'm not always inspired to take out holders and browse through them. Fortunately there are always the Dondorf holders, full of decks to demonstrate the company's creativity in design and craftsmanship in printing. For a hundred years they have only printed their decks in (chromo)lithography. Today's deck in this series is the Luxury Club Cards Nr. 184, produced between 1900 and 1916. Our deck here is from the 1st variation, but as the JC mention "G.m.b.H." the deck will have been produced after 1906. Beautifully detailed, rich clothing on the kings and queens, but I was also attracted by the vivid way that their hair was done.
