Looking
for a joker in the “Women” holder I came across the 2 jokers from this deck
and they reminded me that this deck had been high on our wish list a long time
ago. A problem that was solved in 1999. So for today’s lockdown deck…..
“La Traviata” was printed by Carta Mundi and published by Sevenarts from
London for Alfred Dunhill in 1982. The figures on the courts are characters from
Verdi’s opera with that name. At first glance they look like a double image,
but when you look closely you’ll find differences between both sides.
The illustrations were done by Erté (Romain de Tirtoff, 1892 – 1990).
