All the captions here and on the previous page were taken from the backsides of the postcards and translated from Russian into Dutch by Pauline Groot. They were most likely written by Aleksej Orleanski himself.

Ace (Tuz) of Hearts - represents the little house on chicken feet of Baba Jaga.

Ace of Spades - The hundred years old oak tree is old and hollow, but all mighty. He is usually the symbol of life and immortality, stands as a tree before Death.

Ace of Clubs - The water-mill, under the wheel is the residence of the Water-ghost. The miller must keep friends with the Water-ghost and bring him offerings, otherwise he plays mean tricks: damages the wheel or destroys the dam.

Ace of Diamonds - The windmill is a real refuge place for evil ghosts. Sometimes devils build a windmill themselves to grind human bones in.

There's one interesting remark on one of the postcards too:
Devils do not like to show their true form.
It's clear that when drawings, illustrations or pictures that depict evil spirits, drive someone to rage, it's probable that such a person is possessed by the devil.

Is that foam..... at your mouth???
