Happy New Year!

Playing card maker unknown.

Collection Max Ruh.

With over 3500 secondary used playing cards, I should not be jealous to see a few cards in somebody else’s collection. To tell you the truth, I’m not the type of collector who desperately wants to own everything myself, certainly not at any price, as some eBay sellers know. But to be honest: this card from Swiss collector Max Ruh makes me pretty greedy. Max is a very kind man and he lent me his treasure for the exhibition in the National Playing Card Museum in Turnhout, Belgium. It is a admission ticket for a New Years Concert, dated 1754. The card maker is unknown to me. However the back has been printed with a pattern, it has been hand written. This is not a one of a kind example of secondary use for an admission ticket, but it is the only one for a New Years concert I have ever seen.
With this beautiful card I wish you all the very best for 2006. And thank you Max Ruh for your confidence. I will not keep the card, how ever hard that might be.
