This is the first "Banksy" deck. It was published by Bird Playing Cards in 2015. This company already exists since about 1995 and was founded by Nicky Bird. He had worked at Christies and was the publisher of the Victoria & Albert museum. For that museum he had published a political deck of cards to accompany the elections of 1983. After he had left the V&A he had the idea to publish a similar deck with caricatures, but this time of the royal family. Cartoonist Willie Rushton was commissioned to provide 18 caricatures and when the originals were displayed in a gallery they caught the eye of Dieter Strehl, the head of Piatnik in Austria. The "Pack of Royals" was printed by Piatnik and published in 1995. It was the start of a cooperation between Bird Playing Cards and Piatnik, which has resulted in the publication of more than 150 decks and still counting. The second, "More Banksy", deck was published early this year. Both decks have an extra, informative card about the artist, written by Nicky Bird.
